1. Season – The Folkstyle season starts January 3rd and ends after the State tournament at the end of March.
2. Fees and Paperwork- The fee to join the Club is $35. This includes insurance and team shirt. The club must have a copy of each wrestler’s birth certificate and a signed consent form. This is a requirement of the USA Wrestling Association. No member shall be allowed to participate in any Lusk Rawhide Wrestling Club practices or tournaments unless membership fees are paid in full and a birth certificate and consent are on file. After January 15th wrestlers will assume responsibility for obtaining and purchasing their own USA cards.
3. The Uniform - The singlets and shoes that are available for check out are the property of Lusk Rawhide Wrestling Club and are loaned to the wrestler during the wrestling season. The singlets and shoes must be returned after the wrestler's FINAL tournament, or by the banquet held in April. Wrestling shoes are required. These shoes must be worn only in the wrestling room and at tournaments, Do not wear them outdoors! Do not wash wrestling shoes in a washing machine. Wiping them with a damp cloth is sufficient. Singlets should always be washed separately in COLD water with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach. Allow them to drip dry…DO NOT use a dryer!
4. Practices - Practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday, and Friday evening from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the NCHS Wrestling Room. Wrestlers should wear a t-shirt and comfortable, loose-fitting shorts free of zippers, buttons or snaps, and wrestling shoes to practice in. It is important that parents pick up kids as soon as their practice time is over for their age group. While waiting for practice to start, please do not leave your kids unsupervised in the hallway and remind them that they should remain downstairs at all times. Our volunteer coaches are focused on practice in the wrestling room and should not be expected to supervise kids who are not wrestling.
5. Ages – Boys and Girls 4-18 years of age can participate in Lusk Rawhide Wrestling Club.
6. Tournaments - We would encourage you to have your child participate in at least1 tournament, but do not require it. This is the best experience for the wrestler. The fee is generally $12 per tournament. However, no wrestler is obligated to enter any tournaments. (Tournaments are typically on Saturdays.) Most tournaments are within a 90 mile radius from Lusk, but others can be up to 150 miles. Wrestlers are expected to have their own transportation to and from the tournaments.
Nebraska tournaments: Must be paid for in advance to the club during weigh ins (usually happens on a Thursday or Friday practice). Club singlets or a reversible singlet is required.
Wyoming tournaments: Wrestlers must sign up prior to the tournament. Fees and paperwork are paid for and turned in by the parents at the tournament weigh ins. Headgear is required in all Wyoming tournaments. Club singlets or a reversible singlet is required.
7. Hygiene - It is extremely important that each wrestler takes a bath or shower after each practice and tournament. Since wrestling is a body contact sport, diseases are more prevalent. Taking a shower after a practice or a tournament is the best prevention. It is also recommended that you clean your wrestling gear after each use. Please keep fingernails clean and short.
8. Practices/Snow Days - Typically, if school is canceled due to snow, then we are canceled.
9. Goals - Our goals are to teach the fundamentals of wrestling, good sportsmanship, and to have fun. We want this experience to be a pleasant one for your child and you, the parents, too!!
